The Challenge:

We recently received a call from Texas City home owner who wanted to reduce the amount of sunlight coming into his home. This customer had a large number of windows.  Most were on the east and west sides of the home.  Many of the windows look out on Moses Lake  and a beautifully landscaped yard.  He didn't want to lose the view, but the afternoon heat was just too much.    A window solution was needed that would control the sunlight, reduce the heat,  but still allow a nice view.  Also, it was very important to keep the budget in mind.  We new just what was needed.

Fabric:  Phifer Suntex 80 and 90 (80 on most windows and 90 on bedroom windows and the TV room)

Color: Brown mesh with bronze frame

Colonial framing: On all street facing windows

We recommended exterior solar screens because of their low cost and because we also were going to install plantation shutters on the inside of the windows.  Solar window screens are a fantastic way to reduce heat and light, while still allowing outward visibility.  With Phifer's 10 year warranty, these screens are an economical choice for any application.  We installed the screens with a heavy duty 1" wide frame which is always recommended for solar screens. 

We also installed the screens on the front of the home with "colonial framing" that matched the existing architecture of the windows.  This is an upgrade feature, but it keeps the look of the home intact.
