We recently received a call from some Galveston homeowners that wanted to reduce the amount of sunlight and heat coming into their home. The problem for them was that their house was built in the 1930′s and they did not want to obscure the historical look of the house by covering the windows with dark solar screens. What was our solution? We selected a 90% screen mesh from Phiefer in a color called “Stucco” which is a mixture of white and tan streaks giving the screen an off-white appearance. We also advised the customer to keep the architectural grid pattern of the existing windows in the white solar screen framework. The combination of light colored screen and the grid pattern produced a beautiful look and gave the homeowners the relief from light and heat that they needed. Several neighbors and friends have complimented them on the new appearance and on maintaining the classic look of the home. The homeowners also found another benefit of having solar screens….darker rooms at night. Several nearby street lights have always brightened their rooms at night making it hard to get a good night’s sleep. Not any more! At Texas Window Solutions, we listen to our customers and work hard to find the best solution to every window need.
